(Don't mind the weirdness in the year numbering; it's, uh… a typing quirk that i’m in too deep to give up on.)

Your choice to have your own style guide is one of my favorite things about your site, it's still so charming.

This was a lovely write up about some less lovely happenings. I don’t have much to add, but I want to thank you for writing it and sharing it here with us.

Thank you! I shared it with the guild it’s about and they all quite liked it as well, which was a nice mood boost over Christmas :)

I must know the reason! Is it due to the idea that proper human civilization is 12000 years old (advent of agriculture — HE), or something more nerdy to follow the date scheme in Foundation by Isaac Asimov?

To be perfectly honest, I just hate dealing with the faff of negative dates and BCE stuff. The Holocene Era lets me scrap all that — by the time you get to year 0, you're already well into prehistory — while still being recognisable to people used to Common Era dates. It roughly lining up with the beginning of organised human civilisation is a nice bonus!

I just read the comment above, apologies since the author already mentioned it. I was a bit excited for noticing such a peculiar thing.
