The servers valve needs for steam can probably host artifact with idle CPU ticks, even if playerbase skyrockets. They'll return with Artifact 3 if population sustains long term.

Pretty recently, they released an update to their very first game, Half-Life. (Just some bug fixes.) I guess that's just what happens with their "work on what you find interesting" culture.
