This is great news. The original is probably my most played game of all time, but unfortunately I could never get into Rome 2. Very excited for this!

I never even tried Rome 2, first because it had a bit of a reputation for not being particularly good, and second because, to this day, the pricing structure strikes me as a bit ridiculous for for an 8 year old game. The remaster is kind of tempting (especially with the 50% discount) and looks like CA did a fantastic job with it.

Creative Assembly have announced the upcoming release of Total War: Rome Remastered (which should be Rome: Total War instead but never mind, branding consistency and whatever) coming on the 29th of April to Steam. CA will offer owners of the original game (on Steam) a 50% discount when purchasing the remaster.

Here's a link to a FAQ with more information about the game, the release, changes, etc.

I played a lot of this back in the day. I wonder if they will incorporate some of the more modern features from the newer games into it. One of the worst parts imo about playing E:TW games or older is the lack of replenishment which turns getting fresh armies to your borders into a constant chore.

Here's a very neat preview video by Many A True Nerd going over the main changes in the remaster. CA is incorporating some features from newer TW games (and has made them optional), but they seem to be mostly QoL improvements and balance changes. Unit replenishment is not mentioned specifically, so I don't know if it's been added, though I suppose it'd make the game too different from the original Rome.

Thanks for this! I really enjoyed the MATN Lets Play of Rome, and given that he's so fond of the game I'd hoped he'd make something like this :D

I hear you, but the late game just gets super tedious.
