I’m in Shanghai, like many, I have been in lockdown for weeks (doing okay on food). I don’t have any on-the-ground info, so I made a brief timeline of Shanghai’s current covid outbreak to keep myself sane and things in perspective [thread]:

Long article with lots of citations, risk assessment info, and various recommendations, so hard to quote. If you're immunocompromised or have any people in your family who are, I suggest just reading it yourself.

I stopped posting updates regularly, but another wave seems well under way on the US east coast.

Nationally the US is up 23% to 11 per 100k and the top gainers include Vermont at 37, Rhode Island at 32, DC at 31, New York at 27. (According to Washington Post / John Hopkins data, which I don't entirely trust due to bad handling of backfilling by states.)

Looking at the NYC website, this trend seems to have lasted a month there and the doubling time is 24 days, which is not as scary as some waves.

Shanghai lockdown: How angry netizens test China's 'Great Firewall' (BBC Video)

As millions of people continue to stay at home under strict lockdown in Shanghai, videos appearing to show their desperation and frustration have surfaced and gone viral.

Usually such clips would not get past China's censors, known as the 'Great Firewall'.

But the sheer volume of the clips has made it difficult for censors to keep up. Many are also being passed around in private group chats, which has made them harder to catch.
