But that's how authoritarianism works - you don't ask the masses if they're willing to risk death for the cause, you just tell them to follow you to the promised golden future. The people are disposable, interchangeable instrumentalities for victory. All you have to do is look like a leader and convince them that your plans align with their desires.

Reading the abstract of the study is a bit more enlightening:
We determined the association between treatment and the primary outcomes using competing risk hazard regression adjusting for clinical characteristics via propensity scores.
That sounds like they adjusted for people presenting worse.
Compared to the no HC group, the risk of death from any cause was higher in the HC group but not in the HC+AZ group. The risk of ventilation was similar in the HC group and in the HC+AZ group, compared to the no HC group.
They also report the raw rate of death in the groups, which is what AP reported. So it seems like AP's reporting isn't wrong, it's just not quite complete.

You would think Trump would want to take better care of his voters. His margins are razor thin as it stands.

The people are disposable, interchangeable instrumentalities for victory. All you have to do is look like a leader and convince them that your plans align with their desires.
Possible explanation: worse cases were more desperate for the stuff. AP didn't mention them doing case-controlling.

Related news from today: Rick Bright, The former head of the U.S. Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority says he believes he was forced out of his role this week due to his opposition to treatment with chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine (his full statement included in the linked article).
Follow-up on this: Rick Bright filed an official whistleblower complaint today with the Office of Special Counsel, alleging that his warnings about the virus were disregarded and too much emphasis was put on hydroxychloroquine.
So who actually started the hydroxychloroquine hype? Before Trump, I mean?
Yeah, I can’t believe reddit was actively promoting that sub. It’s rather irresponsible of the admins.
Wow, I did not need that in my life, lol.
One of my comments got removed as inflammatory when I asked what is happening with the migrants on the border in detention centers.
Elon Musk was another who suggested there was evidence it could work—based mostly off his treatment for malaria with it.
