This isn't exactly a new application of heart rate based early-detection for disease state, but it's interesting that they were able to get such good accuracy from a RHR based model rather than an HRV based one. This requires less expensive sensors and is less prone to issues such as the watch being not tight enough or losing skin connection/conductivity for periods of time.
