Something doesn't add up, and the sketchy details from the CDC about what is the cause makes this seem like nothing more than a push by Altria to eliminate the competition.

I find it almost comical that Walmart is banning e-cigarettes but regular cigarettes are just fine apparently.

Massachusetts just banned sales of vaping products. I'll try to find the tweet I saw about it but it was like "12 people die from Vaping in the US: Charlie Baker bans vaping. 611 opioid related deaths in JUST MA in 2019: Baker passes no laws" with a followup of "This is proof that the government COULD do something if they wanted to, they just choose not to."

Edit: And just adding really quickly: Source for the 611 deaths in MA

Is it basically confirmed at this point that all cases surround CBD/THC juices? I've heard conflicting reports.

It's not very clear but it seems to surround oil based juices in general. Cannabis cartridges tend to contain thx/cbd oils thus the focus on them. There is a massive underground network of home-produced cannabis cartridges that are created by people who don't understand the dangers of inhaling hot oil.

Also important to note is their recommendations from their updated outbreak info page: So despite the potential risks the CDC still recommends vaping over going back to smoking cigarettes.

Also important to note is their recommendations from their updated outbreak info page:

    What CDC recommends

    • CDC has released interim recommendations for healthcare providers, health departments, and the public.
    • Until we know more, if you are concerned about these specific health risks, CDC recommends that you consider refraining from using e-cigarette or vaping products.
    • If you are an adult who used e-cigarettes containing nicotine to quit cigarette smoking, do not return to smoking cigarettes.
    • If you have recently used an e-cigarette or vaping product and you have symptoms like those reported in this outbreak see a healthcare provider.
    • Regardless of the ongoing investigation:
      • Anyone who uses an e-cigarette or vaping product should not buy these products (e.g., e-cigarette or vaping products with THC or CBD oils) off the street, and should not modify or add any substances to these products that are not intended by the manufacturer.
      • Youth and young adults should not use e-cigarette products.
      • Women who are pregnant should not use e-cigarette products.
      • Adults who do not currently use tobacco products should not start using e-cigarette products.

So despite the potential risks the CDC still recommends vaping over going back to smoking cigarettes.

Yes, but since they're not recommending current cigarette smokers switch to vaping it sounds like they're already clear that it's no better. Edit: I misread, and this is not correct.

Where did they say that? As far as I can see they only recommended "Adults who do not currently use tobacco products should not start using e-cigarette products."

Ugh. I'm sorry. I misread the bottom like in the CDC recommendation to say that people who were currently smoking shouldn't switch, not that people who weren't smokers shouldn't start. My mistake.

No worries. I was operating on very little sleep at the time I made that comment so thought I might have legitimately missed something in my semi-addled state. :P
