My mental health doctor and I talk a lot about this kind of stuff. Here's some points he's made about this:

    • Telehealth is a great supplement for existing low-risk patients with an established relationship, it's a shame insurance companies are looking to abandon it ASAP.
    • Telehealth is not a full replacement for any therapy. In person therapy will always be better.
    • Mental health issues are skyrocketing. Last surge he saw was on Trump's election. It's gotten far worse with COVID. He's handled more crisis situations since February than in the previous 3 years combined.
    • It (both COVID and mental health) is going to keep getting worse without drastic changes to society. At this point, resolving our COVID problem is going to require neigh-on martial law. Mental health issues will perpetually rise until socioeconomic issues are resolved.
