I am still in school, and being young, the biggest barrier on getting a car, let alone 2, is the insurance cost. For me, I have been quoted anywhere between $3500-$5000/yr CAD on auto insurance with no collision or comprehensive coverage. Given that's for a single vehicle, I don't even want to think about two at this point. I guess this is just what I must deal with, being a male driver under the age of 30.
Storage isn't really an issue, as I live rurally and the property has a utility building that could easily store a car without making too much of an impact on floor space. I live with my parents still, and given the housing situation here, I don't see myself moving out in the next 5-8 years, so I know I at least have storage for that long... I won't stop looking for one, but it'll probably be a while before I swing for that purchase.

Ontario, Canada. My mom only has her car on the road from about April to October/November. You never really know how long you'll get out of it until the weather comes; one year on Christmas Day we were able to drive it with the top down (it was in the mid teen degrees celsius), and this year, we had snow/ice towards the end of April. Her car also never touches the road if there's any rain, and we wait a bit after winter for the residual salt to wash away. When I see ads for them online, you can usually tell whether or not the "never winter driven" tag is true because the rust on winter driven MX5s is pretty bad. I likely wouldn't be too opposed to driving it in the rain, but I definitely wouldn't consider driving it in the winter due to the road salt and the fact that I live rurally where the road clearing is mediocre at best.
Ah yeah, that's a tough location for a Miata. Mines been in the south it's whole life and seems to have been kept in good condition. I drive it all sorts of rain though, hasn't caused an issue yet.

I had to change my horn 😞, was too cute for the giant pick ups down south. I tend to wave, pretty easy to see the driver in Miatas. I get really sad if they don't wave back though.

The current gen mazda3 is great, I've got a '16. The infotainment is hot garbage though. Honestly, in the used market just look at Honda. Civics and fits will last forever and they're worth it.

Anything with low km's, still in warranty, and probably under $13,000 CAD. Mazda 3 usually fits that bill. All of my quotes are on vehicles that are between 2015-2018 model years, for reference....

In small consideration for me is the purchase of an electric car, either used or new. Used electric cars, such as the Nissan Leaf, depreciate really quick and I can get a 2014 model of said vehicle in and around my price range. Good thing about them is their 8 year warranty on the battery, which would be enough to last me through university (2022). The Ontario provincial government also offers a $14,000 incentive on a purchase or lease of a new vehicle, so that may be in the cards as well depending on my finances. For now, I'm just going to accept the free rides my parents give me until I absolutely need a car.

I was sitting at a stop sign on a side street waiting to turn left onto a main street with no stop light or stop sign. Looked left and then right and then left again. Noticed a car coming from the left and looked back right, then got hit. At first I thought the driver missed the turn but they were hit from behind by another driver who didn't even slow down. No major injuries for me or my kids, Just some soreness. The at fault driver's insurance did not want to total both cars and since my repair was cheaper it got repaired. total repair was 2700. I only paid 1500 hundred for the truck. It has not been the same since. Small vibration and a rattle but nothing horrible.
Second accident was a year and a month to the day after the first accident. I was stopping at a red light and the driver behind rear-ended me. They had been looking in the glove box for tissues. My tow hitch pushed a hole through their bumper but the only issues with my truck was a piece of the paint from their vehicle stuck to the bumper.

I have a (new to me) 2011 CRZ, which is an odd little car, but I've grown to like it, and I got it at a decent price because it's spectacularly average at everything. It looks sporty but absolutely isn't, so it doesn't appeal to that crowd. It's a hybrid but the gas mileage isn't as good as some other hybrids, so it doesn't really appeal to that crowd either. It's a two-seater, so not a family vehicle, and while there is some storage space, there really isn't as much as you'd think, being a hatchback. All that being said, it's a nice vehicle and has a decent sound system.
The project car is a 1988 CRX that we picked up last summer from a little old lady who never drove it and was only the second owner. It's the shared third vehicle between my husband and me when one of our cars is in the shop or we're working on it. Ultimately I'd like to restore it to its original glory with a few modifications that don't mess with the aesthetic of the vehicle. It's in reasonably good condition for its age, but definitely has rust (don't they all.) It's also an automatic, which is unusual for those little cars, so we'll be converting it to manual hopefully sometime this summer. We're trying to take good care of it. There are so few of those little cars left on the road.

Love the car, but it will probably fail inspection this August and I’ll have to get rid of it because whatever it needs is probably way more than it’s worth. 205k miles and still runs/drives great, I’ve had no major mechanical issues. These pothole-filled PA roads really do a number on the suspension though, I’ve replaced pretty much every suspension component in the last few years.

It has some aesthetic stuff I'm not happy but have lived with since shortly after I got it from the dealer, like I need to replace the headliner because it's held up by thumb tacks and a fishing pole. And I hate that the radio only has a CD player, but I just got an after market one I might install this weekend that will give it bluetooth/usb/aux/ etc.

Recently bought an '18 Ford Escape after potholes ate my old car.

That's incredible. I had a 1993 with 210,000 miles on it. Only took about 7 months to die after I bought it for way too much money.
