What a nice article. I found it interesting enough to go to their blog and find the first day: https://walktheborder.com/day-one. Something that wasn't immediately clear to me in the article is that they stayed in hotels and were picked and dropped off from the trail many, many, many times.
I lived along the border, on both sides of the border, (I am a US citizen born in the US) and I agree with a lot of what the article says regarding both safety and practicality of a full wall. The people out there are generally good, like they are everywhere. The terrain varies from barren and empty to overpopulated to inaccessible and mountainous.
I would feel safer out there than in some US cities.
