Eric Liu provides a refreshingly different perspective on the state of American democracy, one that counters the pessimism generally broadcast by the mainstream media; and one that reminds us that...

"American history is a record of small groups of people who keep remaking this country over and over, and who reveal to us all that the perpetual remaking is the greatest statement of fidelity to our creed and our national purpose, which is not to be like Russia, white and stagnant and oligarchic, or like China, monoethnic and authoritarian and centralized, but to be more like America, hybrid and dynamic and democratic and free to be remade."

Eric Liu provides a refreshingly different perspective on the state of American democracy, one that counters the pessimism generally broadcast by the mainstream media; and one that reminds us that democracy is made and remade by engaged citizens. And while he is focusing on the United States, his message is applicable to all democracies around the world.

I really like what Liu saying and I’m sharing this link for anyone else who might not have been familiar with his work. This article has a lot of references to follow along into other books and organizations he’s involved with.
