Even as a hardcore atheist myself, who understands why the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster was created, I won't give any credit to it as an actual religion. It is nothing more than a satire on religions. It should not be taken seriously, and I'm continually surprised when I read about governments accepting it as an actual religion.

I understand why its supporters want to get governments to accept Pastafarianism: it's a form of trolling, to point out the stupidity involved in identifying what is and isn't a religion. But the fact that they're succeeding in getting governments to accept it dumbfounds me. Any attempt to legitimise the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster as an actual religion should be treated as the joke it is.

Absolutely noone's freedom of worship is being limited by a government refusing to allow people to wear colanders in their identification photos.

Does this mean if the Pastafarians make it an obligation to wear the collandar the Dutch will allow it?
