The entire series is fascinating. I tuned in "real time" somewhere in '14, but stopped following around '16 due to the lack of time.

The format allows it to be much more up close and personal than is usual in such documentaries, and week by week of carnage "updates" really brings home the horrors of the war.

They also do (did) summaries every 3 months, which is easier to follow:

The host (Indy Neidell) recently started WW2 coverage in the same "real time" format but with a different production house, hopefully it'll be as good as The Great War coverage: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP1AejCL4DA7jYkZAELRhHQ

Honestly, I wouldn't get your hopes up too high. The quality of the stuff released so far to the WW2 channel is lower than even TimeGhost, which itself was significantly lower quality than The Great War... and by the sounds of it the original multi-channel collaboration idea that largely drove the WW2 channel kickstarter campaign has completely fallen apart too. InRangeTV/ForgottenWeapons, C&Rsenal and a few other channels originally supposed to be involved have dropped out due to a complete lack of communication from the TimeGhost people (Indy and Spartacus). I suspect they may have bitten off way more than they could chew with the WW2 channel and the promises made about it, especially since they decided to ditch the original production company behind The Great War and do it entirely on their own.

The weakest parts of The Great War has always been when they’ve worked with other YouTubers.

Strongly disagree. The specials episodes and collaborations were the absolute highlight of The Great War for me since they covered the broader topics related to the war that are actually worth exploring in detail, whereas the value of the standard episodes "play by play" format is entirely debatable, IMO. I suffered through all the "play by play" episodes because military history is my favorite subject, but the specials and collaborations were the only episodes that ironically didn't feel like a slog through the mud. ;)

Update from The Great War... the research & production team behind the channel is going to continue making new videos without Mediakraft or Indy Neidell. They plan on putting out new episodes in a longer, more detailed format focusing on the broader issues related to the war instead of the previous weekly "play by play". Huzzah! :)
