It's always inspiring to see these real after action reports from someone who has learned a language. I've been hovering around the language learning world for over a decade now and it's up there with the health and fitness world in regards to charlatans, bullshitters and psudeoscience. So it's nice to read someones real experiences who isnt trying to flog some ebook or website.

Everything i have read says it's 80% effort, time and consistency. Unfortunately for me i could never get the consistency down because i never had a reason to learn a particular language and would get wanderlust and move on to a new language before achieving any degree of use from the one i was learning. It's been a couple of years since i put real effort into learning a language and keep telling myself will start one again but i still can't choose a language.

For me I'd absolutely need to have someone to practice with on a regular basis. That could mean moving to another country or getting a friend that's willing to help me learn long term.
