    Especially into the idea of "The Great Span" that he mentions. As someone born in '85, it still seems weird to me that, not only was there a time when certain cultural touchstones didn't exist (like Star Trek, for example), but that time isn't even that long ago.

    Like "Loving v. Virginia," that legalized interracial marriage, didn't happen until 1967. When my wife and I were born, the very concept that we could have eventually gotten married would have only been 18 years old. . .
