    Here's the main takeaway: Write as many articles as you want, compile as many studies as you want...the people who buy into this narrative do not care about facts. They just want to make sure those different than them are excluded from society.

    No amount of these articles or proof that their theories are bullshit will ever change that.

      That's the opposite of what that means though. If you can be made to be someone else through social influence, by definition you aren't deciding how to live your life, the social influence is...

      If you could become transgender through social influence then guess what? You've got more trans people now and they get to decide how to live their lives.

      That's the opposite of what that means though. If you can be made to be someone else through social influence, by definition you aren't deciding how to live your life, the social influence is making that decision for you.

      This isn't to say that the anti-trans "hypothesis" is in any way real (it's not, trans-acceptance became more mainstream and as a result more trans people came out of the woodwork), just that the logic you're stating isn't logical.

        I mean - can anyone choose anything at that point? Everything we do is because of influences beyond our control. Choosing is just an alignment of desire and reality.
