I think it stands to reason to interpret most of these indictments not so much as being theological, and more of a political. The Catholic church has always been a socio-political force as much as a religious one, and it stands to reason that they would mistrust groups who would question their authority or threaten their hold on power.
Fondly enough the people whose convictions would serve as the blueprint for Communism actually were a religious group, and their reasoning of why private property was an abomination was, essentially, a theological one. Of course the Diggers' convictions have far more in common with Anarchism and Agrarian Socialism but IIRC they were still referred back to by both Marxist theorists and Leninist theorists alike.
But they were also protestants, so I guess that does make Communism heretical to Catholicism in a way...
