The part where the author describes her ideal woman to her friends as a kid and then immediately realizes they did something wrong was extremely relatable for me. Things like that happened to me so often as a kid. Also my 'type' has always been lesbians, which was confusing before I realized I was trans. I kept wondering why all the girls I liked most ended up being gay.

I kind of always knew that I wanted to be a girl, I even remember praying to god at like 5 years old to let me wake up as a girl and using birthday wishes on it and stuff. But I stopped believing in God at age 12 because I got no response. I remember being 11 and learning about trans people and transitioning but I thought I had to be gay first so I just kept repressing until like a few months ago when I learned I could like girls and want to be a girl and that cis guys don't get jealous of lesbians.

I think there's a couple of us here. I'd be more than happy to talk to you and @hackergal as well, since I've known for about a decade.
How old were you when you realized, if you don't mind me asking?
I was 12 when it first came to my mind and 16 when I stopped repressing myself and started exploring it.
