Should be interesting to see what happens. Bostonian here. I know I and all my friends have called the city to let them know we are opposed to the parade (they are taking community input while deciding to give a full permit last I heard). I have been to a few Boston counter-protests, hopefully the numbers play out the same way they do for other events: hate groups dwarfed in a sea of counter-protesters

Interesting twitter post. It seems like the organizers tend to bring violence with their organizing.

"I might technically be a sequined and perfectly coiffed friend of Dorothy’s, but I’ve spent my entire career advocating for the rights of America’s most brutally repressed identity—straight people—so I know a thing or two about discrimination."

    Wait... what?

Straight Pride has a gay man as their Grand Marshall. And straight people are the most brutally repressed people in America.

“I know it’s a little ironic to have a gay conservative as our icon."

That's the understatement of the year!

I can't tell if this is satire or Poe's Law in action. This is "through the looking-glass" type craziness.

Milo's a grifter, and since he's been deplatformed, it's not like he has anything better to do.

Plus he's just plain useful to them. He's clearly going to be used as a shield against accusations of homophobia, but I think he's also going to be used as a precedent to counter any other conversation about representation. "We didn't need a straight man to represent us at Straight Pride, why do you care about representation in public events, or media, or government, or..." etc.

Also, just to state the obvious, straightness isn't really all that important to the parade. It's mostly just far-right conservatism.

Perhaps this isn’t a good faith interpretation, but I think their choice makes sense once you realize the goal isn’t actually to have a straight pride parade, it’s to cause controversy. It’s a bunch of people who don’t like being told that they can’t or shouldn’t have a straight pride parade, so they’re having one specifically to piss people off. Including Milo almost guarantees that.

    What.

I'm starting to get the impression that this is less about straight pride and more about the right for these guys to stir shit, but really, Milo? What could they possibly want with that huckster casuality of the culture war, unless they are planning to hit him up for the white male scholarship money that he ran off with?
