Admittedly this is probably a given in any left-of-center space but I feel that if "black homophobia" isn't something used rhetorically by right-wingers like "black crime" (and thus be heard and critiqued regularly by the left-of-center) and statistics can be misinterpreted that way (see the bottom chart here) I feel it's worth taking a look at.

The troubling one is that only 25% feel there "is nothing wrong with homeosexuality.". I suspect that's in no small part due to religious ties.

However, that sort of homophobia is far less problematic than the 'violent and harmful' homophobia. Religious homophobia will fade with secularization.

It is nice to see that despite personal reservations, that they're generally supportive of gay rights. And it makes sense...the black community was dealt the second greatest injustice in the USA (behind Native Americans). Propagating injustice only hurts their own quest for justice.

To be fair, this article is from mid 2013 and I should have made that clearer, even if the release date is pretty clear in the article's link and the data tildes scrapes. A speculative guess for the current rates might be ~40 percent, based on how many Black democrats think you don't need God to be moral. minus a few percent for the black Republicans. (Although, given the importance of Black protestant churches, any serious answer requires knowledge of those churches' religious practices.)

Thanks for posting this. I'd had that "fact" in my brain unexamined for quite a few years, and I'm glad to see data that ousts it.
