For nearly nine months, Tenacious Unicorn Ranch, a safe haven for trans and queer Coloradans, faced violent threats from right-wing extremists. Until, that is, they turned to their local anarchists for help.

This is a great story and it really shows how well standing up for others helps.

But I have to ask, wtf is this about:

Some of the outreach was completely unexpected. “A lot of Boogaloo folks reached out to us. We had to say no, although the gesture was, err, hugely appreciated,” Logue says with a shrug.

Why on earth would the Boogaloos want to help them? They seem just as bad as the Oath Keepers and Three Percenters.

Wow! That’s really fascinating. Thanks for the info. I had no idea. I’ve mostly only read about them in relation to the recent insurrection and, for some reason, about their “no fapping” policy.

My best guess, and this is purely a guess based on the lowest common definition at the completely-ignoring-every-other-aspect-commonly-but-not-wholly-held-by-individuals-in-the-group level, is some offered to help because at the core they are an anti-government group.

Of course that ignores literally every other aspect and typical quality expressed by individuals within it; akin to describing Bill Cosby as just a comedian.

I remember the early days of the formation of the Boogaloo movement - while it is definitely alt-right adjacent, it isn’t nearly as uniform as others - there’s a decent amount of genuine American libertarians in there, who would be a lot more sympathetic to gender and sexual minorities.
