A video of a man saving a toddler's life at great risk to his own
@ladyhaja:
Holy shit, this guy is amazing. What a hero. https://t.co/XVWbaULkFp https://t.co/hHnF150XL5
The hero is an undocumented immigrant in France. He's was awarded citizenship in France for his actions in the video.
BBC Article on him, including his meeting with Macron and receiving his certificate for "acts of courage and devotion". And AFAIK he was only given honorary citizenship but the French government promised to speed up the process of attaining real citizenship for him as a result.
That's awesome. How does honorary citizenship differ from full citizenship? (if you happen to know)
I'm pretty sure it's just the French government's way of announcing their commitment to him getting his Full citizenship quickly and ensure he doesn't get deported in the mean time... basically a "hands off" card for him with immigration control.
At least that's a thing there. That's probably an enormous weight off his shoulders, I imagine.
This is such a cool thing to have happened. Awarding a hero for risking his life. Great feel good story.
He's been invited to start firefighter training.
