    The risks were underscored on July 6 when Saman Gunan, a retired Thai Navy SEAL, died in an underwater passageway. Three SEAL frogmen were hospitalized after their air tanks ran low. Swift currents pushed divers off-track for hours at a time, sometimes tearing off their face masks.

    It was mentioned in another article that they had setbacks that weren't shared for morale reasons, but reading this article, it really was more than can be imagined. It really is amazing that the rescue succeeded.

      Those SEALs were completely unprepared, unequipped and untrained for any cave diving, yet they went into that cave expecting to find only dead bodies. Unbelievable bravery.

    I felt terrible when I heard their plight because after hearing all the challenges I was certain they would die, so glad to be wrong.
