Public transit too slow or not available in your area? Just take an Uber!

Similarly, the US should have mandatory paid parental leave, a fully-refundable child tax credit, and subsidized preschool / childcare.

Instead, we get companies building websites to connect parents with childcare providers. Doesn't do anything to reduce the actual costs, but crucially:

In exchange, Wonderschool takes a 10% cut of tuition.

These companies, if successful, are able to establish themselves as permanent rent-seeking fixtures on a huge portion of the economy.

I got an email from a recruiter claiming to be looking for developers to work at Wonderschool last night, but I didn't think much of it beyond telling the recruiter to fuck off because they claimed to have found out about me via LinkedIn. I'm glad I did, now that I know more about these rent-seeking parasites.
