Great read. I'm white and not black, but I also experienced a few instances of prejudice when I was there a few months ago. We got turned away from a completely empty little restaurant at one point even - but then the owner's wife said something to him that changed his mind. He was incredibly rude to begin with but as we sat and chatted among ourselves, and then ordered lunch, he seemed to loosen up and turned into a nice fella!
I didn't experienced anything like the writer here, which is straight-up racism, but it was still apparent at certain points that some of the people we met sort of disapproved of us in a strange way.
