It’s not a great world to be raising kids right now.

Which is a huge fallacy and simply not true. I mean the only "care free" period we have had in recent history was maybe the 90s after the fall of the USSR but before that people having children worried about nuclear war to name a thing. Not to mention some environment impacts that actually have been reduced hugely like acid rain, smog, etc in the western world (Which this article is mainly talking about anyway) and before that we had two world wars, etc. There are some big concerns for the future but there always have been and frankly we have been lucky to make it so far.

I feel like the article would have made a better point by not starting with (or even including it to begin with) point.

Yes, present time is vastly better than the past. We have plumbing, antibiotics, universal human rights and democracy. I’m not saying those are perfect and accessible to 100% of the human race,...

As an aside, I feel like this is the strongest argument against intelligent life existing anywhere in the universe.

    1. The responsibility. I do not want to be responsible for another human's life for ~18 years. I know myself well enough to know that I will be crippled by that responsiblity. I wouldn't find meaning in it, I would resent it.

    2. The Cost in time. There are many things I want to do, not saying I will actually do them, but none of them are quick. Raising a child takes such an enormous amount of your life that I might be able to do one of the things, maybe.

I am not saying that they don't mention valid points, merely that none of them are my personal reasons against having a child. I do also want be clear that I am not an Anti-Natalist, I just personally don't want kids.
