    I'm all for backyard hens, but even this story starts with a telling anecdote. One of my neighbors has a rooster with a miscalibrated alarm clock, and after getting woken up at 3AM a few times, it's not so hard to see why plenty of people would prefer to head the problem off by banning chickens altogether.
