Right wing areas/states
consume the most pornography
take the most federal money
have the most divorces
Just this morning I saw another headline about right wingers having larger amygdala ( fear centers ) in their brains.
Basically, the louder they scream about what other people do is just a stronger indication of what they do themselves.
I'm a bit suspect of their methodology, so I dug up a recent Pornhub Insights article from 3/27/2024 (NSFW language, no NSFW imagery) examining trans searches on their site. They're more...
I'm a bit suspect of their methodology, so I dug up a recent Pornhub Insights article from 3/27/2024 (NSFW language, no NSFW imagery) examining trans searches on their site. They're more restrictive with what qualifies as a trans porn search term but don't examine the political make up of the states for this particular article. However, they're the largest porn streaming site, there's some merit to looking at their data versus Google trends despite it not being a one to one comparison and other potentially confounding factors. Out of the top ten viewing states reported by this site and Pornhub Insights, they only share 1 state (Missouri). Edit: However, this is an incomplete picture, see below. Earlier Insights would be more useful.
Keep in mind that pornhub is not necessarily accessible in all states, they have pulled out of all states that passed laws to require an ID check to view porn.

Good point! I thought it was just one or two states but apparently they block far more states than that. Prior to this July blog post, Texas, Utah, Arkansas, Virginia, Montana, North Carolina, and...

Texas, Virginia, Mississippi, and North Carolina are in this site's top 10 and in the pre-July block list. That's a far larger confounding factor than I had initially thought! Thanks for making me reconsider that point.
Today I learned my state is one of those that blocked Pornhub. Honestly shouldn't be surprised given I'm in a very red state, but for those who are also in blocked areas, here's the WBM archive.

Usually not. However, it's worth noting that to a conservative type who views transness as a dangerous delusion or whatever, femboys and trans women are the same thing, just to different degrees.

I think this is a really important point. A lot of people who fetishize other groups or cultures won't necessarily care about autheticity/validity of terms, but how they perceive that group/culture. So I can see people thinking of femboys as a flavor of transgender, maybe as a softer version of drag queens.
I will also say on the other side, there are definitely a sizeable fraction of people who advertise/portray/bill themselves as femboys while also being trans.

Sexuality in general is a weird thing. Some people are only attracted to specific genitals. Some are only attracted to specific presentations or aspects of a physical appearance. Most people are some combination of these and even more factors. The folks who are looking for femboys are often also looking for trans porn and are likely looking for a specific slender femme look and are less concerned about the genital configuration (although most trans porn has factory default genital configurations).
You think so? I always assumed people who purposefully seek out trans porn are specifically interested in a girl/fem-presenting person with a penis

The overlap between trans stuff and femboys is pretty impossible to ignore. While a subset are perfectly cis and happy with it, the number who end up later coming out as trans is too large to ignore (and includes some of the most high-profile examples). My own wife "came out" as a femboy a month or two before realizing that she was actually trans.
And on the more practical side, what would be the actual major difference between femboy porn and porn featuring a trans woman other than maybe their pronouns? The main difference irl is non-tangible parts of their internal experience and identity, which tend not to feature much in porn.

Also most firearm homicides per capita.

Has that ever stopped anyone? People can just bypass that with a VPN
It won’t stop them, but those wouldn’t show up in these statistics.
Yeah, but on their reports it won't show the traffic coming from those states.

Just want to acknowledge the the writing and title choice in the article itself are annoyingly smug, but the data analysis itself I found interesting.
Why do they count "femboy" as searches for transgender porn? I don't think femboys are trans

Well, femboys are fem-presenting and typically have penises, so.
They make attraction in every flavor! Some people care about genital configuration, others don't.
