I always get reminded when 'we' as the wealthy nations went to their countries colonizing them, effectively halting their own development and strip-mining their land for resources and exploiting their people.
Funny how 'those' people now want their slice of the pie here. I welcome anyone because everyone is still a human with needs. As soon as that gets whisked away because 'they are a threat', I want to tell them that we invaded their countries it was all seen as heroism and bravery and somehow that wasn't threatening to them?
And somehow we feel like we should have more high end, well paying jobs, and have migrants do the jobs we don't want to do...
With the later especially, I'm expecting there to be restrictions on migrants and people eventually figuring out that it doesn't solve our problems and actually makes some problems as well.
Given the riots in the UK a month ago or so, I wouldn't rule out some very violent incidents with people dying before that happens though.
I hate to say this but it looks like the EU needs to learn some hard lessons first.
