The article doesn't do a good job explaining what "communal traits" and "agentic traits" are. I think I have a basic idea, but without access to the text, I'm not sure how they measured it or what...

Can anyone shed some light? I'd like to know more about what traits, exactly, each party is aligned with.

I thought this section laid out the traits quite clearly:

partisans tend to differ in how they value personal characteristics, with Democrats putting greater value on what social psychologists call communion traits (broadminded, warm, curious, fun-loving, sociable, etc) and Republicans putting greater value on agency traits (hardworking, determined, ambitious, thorough, organized, etc).”

Basically, communion traits are about getting along with other people, and agency traits are about getting things done: working together versus working hard.

I associate the "agentic" with Stanley Milgram because he used the phrase "agentic state" in Obedience to Authority to describe the mental state in which a person has suspended their own moral judgment in favor of just following orders given by somebody they consider to be a "legitimate authority".

It's funny how that same word, "agentic", is used to describe traits conservatives are said to value. Then again, authoritarian personalities tend to correlate with conservative politcs.
