Anyone see the fire on Forest St tonight?

Looks like a fire in out back of one of the vacant houses on that block. There's a bunch of firetrucks outside and they've been working for an hour or so. I'm glad the smoke hasn't blown up north, but we're all very awake so I dunno what we're gonna do now.

My guess is that it's San Francisco, and that this user came from HN and is therefore used to *everyone* living in San Francisco.

Forest Street? Don't think there's a Forest Street in the town I live in. Couldn't find one on a map anyway. So no, I didn't see the fire.

Gosh, I really hope so. I don't know what it is about this post, but I love it. That reply to the comment saying "hmm..." was weird and awesome. And then they never responded again!!

      A text-based adventure maybe?

Yeah it was crazy! I drove past it today and there’s nothing left. Just ash. I don’t want to be too conspiratorial, but I was out walking in the woods by the Brick street trailhead and I saw some guys slinking around in the distance. Probably just teenagers, but forest street does back onto the woods...

The fire's gone all the way out now. We walked around for a while and got a good view of the house from the rear where they were axing out the back wall and running hose up into the attic. I don't think anyone got hurt. There were ambulances out front but I think those just came with the firetrucks as a matter of course. The houses have been empty for a few weeks, anyhow.

I guess what I'm curious about is your motivation for posting this topic. As a few others have pointed out, not everyone here is from the same city, and your post doesn't contain any mention of where this all is, other than a decently common street name.

My guesses are either this is some weird meta troll post, an elaborate encoded message, or you genuinely are confused about the scope of the userbase her on Tildes. I'd be happy to hear your input though!

People do this sort of thing a lot in the geographic subreddits over on Reddit. But at least there, someone will post in a city-specific subreddit (or state-based at worst), to discuss local issues with local people. This sort of post is kind of pointless on an undifferentiated world-wide forum.

I'm curious did they ever find out what started the blaze, I know I heard people talking about seeing lights on at night in that house, I assumed some squatters were using it.
