I find myself questioning more and more all the opinions I hold on anything political, because if other people have been so easily manipulated who's to say I am not?

Oh you are. We all are. I'll be shocked, shocked I tell you, if /r/LateStageCapitalism isn't Russians all the way down. Recall in the congressional investigations they found Russian propping up Black Lives Matter pages and Bernie Sanders pages. Hell, I'm pretty sure the "anti-fa" that keeps riling up the Fox-news crowd is imported straight from the 80-90s punk movement in Europe.

or more in general, "social engineers" have "been exposed" and have shown how much effect they can have in a society.

Social Media appears to be a force-multiplier for propaganda. Think about how willing you are to try a restaurant recommended by a friend? One minute you're eating enchiladas, and the next you're building a wall.

At least I know that way that I'm reading something that is biased

The idea of a non-partisan press is a relatively new one. We've been through this before. The medium has changed (web vs print) but we'll adapt, just like we have before.

This is the very definition of gaslighting.

Something that this Russia thing did for me is make me lose all my faith in almost all news sources and even my own thoughts. I find myself questioning more and more all the opinions I hold on anything political, because if other people have been so easily manipulated who's to say I am not?

This is the very definition of gaslighting.
