Although the final plan hasn't been anounced yet, even if it winds up being a ban on all pre-X date Vespas from the city center, that is hardly a total ban, as the title of the article implies....

To curb pollution, they announced that all scooters built before 1999 would be banned from entering the city centre between 7am and 7pm. The uproar was predictable, hitting Twitter first under the hashtag #lamiavespanonsitocca (“Don’t touch my Vespa”). The municipality eventually backed down.

But the new mayor, Marco Bucci, has promised to resurrect similar measures. The municipality has not released details of its upcoming transport policy, which is due to be announced later this year, but it will prioritise a transition to electric vehicles, with subsidised electricity for users. Ominously for diehard Vespa riders, Bucci has promised: “We have to make sure that the most polluting engines are no longer in the centre.”

Although the final plan hasn't been anounced yet, even if it winds up being a ban on all pre-X date Vespas from the city center, that is hardly a total ban, as the title of the article implies. And the reason for doing so makes total sense, IMO:

The two-stroke engine that powered the Vespa to worldwide fame burns a mixture of oil and gasoline, producing as much pollution as 30-50 four-stroke ones, according to some estimates.

I wanted to tone down the title a bit, but then my inbuilt "don't-fuck-with-the-title-ometer" kicked in. A hangover from years of removing editorialised/mangled titles on Reddit that isn't proving...

Yeah it's not your fault and I struggle with that too. A bunch of the YouTube channels I enjoy and submit to Tildes often CAPITALIZE lots of WORDS as a form of clickbait, so I am desperately trying to get in the habit of undoing that sort of stuff at the very least. And many YouTube video titles also often lack context so simply submitting them "as is" to Tildes just doesn't make sense, so I have been modifying them while trying to keep the additions neutral and purely informative. But it's not something that comes naturally to me either, and definitely requires a bit more effort and consideration... and more than a few times I have simply forgotten and just copied over the crappy original title too.

I think decompressing from reddit and getting used to Tildes is gonna take a while for all of us. :P
