LOL... Yeah, the Joe Rogan Experience can be really hit or miss, often giving way too much of a platform to complete nonsense peddlers and scumbags (e.g. Jordan Peterson, Milo Yiannopoulos, etc), but overall I really enjoy his podcast and especially appreciate his intellectual honesty in being able to admit he doesn't know jack shit about most of the things covered on the show. ;)

This episodes was definitely one of the good ones though.

LOL, I have actually encountered the exact opposite; I am the one naysayer in my group of friends that is hesitant about and critical of JRE. Everyone I know who also watches it loves it almost unconditionally, even the nonsense guests. Don't get me wrong though, I still love the show too, and am a massive fan of Joe (especially his MMA announcing). However, the power he holds these days through his insanely broad reaching platform truly scares me sometimes... especially because of how uncritical he is of certain guest's bigoted views.

E.g. All the transphobic guests he has had on the show who have, IMO, warped his perspective quite horribly about transgender issues. Which is one of the reasons I actually reached out to Sarah McBride at one point, basically begging her to get in contact with Joe to be on his podcast (she never responded). IMO he really, really needs to have a transgender guest who knows WTF they are talking about on the show, who can help him understand the issues better.

p.s. And thinking of it now... Natalie from ContraPoints would also make an excellent guest, too. I am tempted to try and reach out to her now somehow as well!

Yeah, I definitely don't hold it against him at all and totally understand him wanting to be welcoming and non-hostile, even to the wackadoos he has on like Alex Jones. He is an entertainer and his podcast isn't meant to be a formal debate, after all. But it really does bother me when I catch him parroting the views of the more "alt-right" and bigoted of the guests he has had on, in later unrelated episodes. Transgender issues in sports, in particular, he has regularly ranted about and so I really wish he would have someone on who could broaden his understanding on the underlying issues there.

I tend to get more excited about his STEM guests

Ditto. Although I actually do watch even most of the batshit guests he has on because I want to know what sort of information is being put out there by them. Especially since almost all of them, no matter how crazy, tend to have sizeable fanbases who cling to their every word.

I am a huge MMA fan and so actually do watch most of those episode. Transpersons in competitive sports is a touchy and admittedly difficult subject for sure, and even I don't really know where I stand on how it should ultimately be handled. However having watched probably hundreds of sports/MMA related episodes and dozens where he has ranted about transgender issues related to sports, while a lot of his points are reasonable, I definitely also get the sense that Joe is not entirely rational in his assessment or position on the issue. I don't think Joe is bigoted at all... I just think he has some rather oldschool notions about the "fairer" sex and how "men" should treat them (which I suspect he still thinks of MtF as, which is the underlying issue). I think the bottom line is that he just hasn't had enough (maybe even any) exposure to transgender people, and so is a bit uncomfortable with it all. It's a noticeable hangup on his part, when he is otherwise quite rational about most other things.
