From 2003 to 2007 a 24 year old Iraqi woman in Baghdad kept an online diary. In chronicling life under occupation the blogger "Riverbend" gave a perspective largely missing from English media.

this is interesting and i actually can share a blog of similar nature to this one in life in rocinha, which is written by a woman who writes about her experiences living in the rocinha favela in rio de janeiro and has entries going back at least ten years now.
I loved that blog back in the day. I was a college student at the time and taking classes on international policy to boot. It had a major role in humanizing the conflict for me and giving me some context on foreign policy studies that was missing from a formal education. It was also a great example of the value the web could have as a teaching and educational tool. This was a real way to go about “connecting people.”
I remember worrying about her in 2007. She just kind of abruptly stopped posting and I feared the worst. She made a new post in 2013 though and seems to be doing okay, which makes me glad.
I may use HTTrack later to save this blog, just in case it disappears one day. Thank you for sharing this.
