I suffer from bipolar disorder and i have struggled with suicidal thoughts for 17 years, fully dictated by my cycles of the disorder.
I have a dip(depression) every 2 weeks, and much deeper depressions following a potential manic episode. I had suicidal thoughts just a couple of weeks ago for example. I have become pretty good at managing them.
You can see it as a ladder, where you romanticize suicide, which i often do. And the next step would be acting upon them, and i have never taken that final step(attempting suicide).
The process of coming to terms with suicidal thoughts have taken years of meditation.
