    The article misplaces a substantial amount of blame on Jane Jacobs and misses more important underlying causes of failure in urban planning imagination.

    NIMBYism wouldn't have such a dire hold if the precipice of income inequality wasn't so steep.

    The "profession" of urban planning has been strangled by disinvestment in cities, rentierism, real estate oligarchies, misplaced lending priorities, neoliberal "let the market decide" economic policies, and a manufactured distrust in public projects as Socialism.

    Nonetheless, the U.S. for damn sure needs some moonshots to reinvent our polluted, unnavigable, wasteful, uncomfortable, unsustainable, unmaintainable urban landscapes.
