What possible purpose could those vehicles serve, to a town sheriff? They provide all the utility of a SUV, but they get 12 miles to the gallon, are unfixable by most mechanics, and if memory serves from the '96 boy scout jamboree, are drive sufficiently different from most cars to be dangerous.

Wasting money just to be cool, it seems like.

There is no reason to have a single bayonet, let alone thousands of them, unless you plan to engage in close quarters combat with the intent to kill.

The mildly optimistic view would be that they're being supplied as a means for budget shenanigans, or for "tough on crime" political point scoring, without any intent that they're ever used. But yeah, when mild to moderate corruption is the best case scenario, that's not exactly a good situation to be in.

Gotta get rid of those so they can get newer toys on taxpayers dime ofc!

I mean does any police force really need mine-resistant vehicles? Why purpose is there in providing grenade launchers to these guys?
