The video touches on how some of the don't vote argument is accelerationist in nature, i.e. "Trump is so bad, that people will have to learn that facism is bad." I wonder if a little bit of that is that argument's biases are a little more satiated with Trump as president, as he's the platonic ideal of an incompetent leader of which to revolve at, where as if Biden is at least trying to make people who are not himself or his financers happy, so they're worried that "the people" would be appeased with platitudes and only incremental progress.

    Edit: An allegory.

To try and bring something else to this comment that isn't just me digesting the video; You're trying to decide what to have for dinner. Dad will go get steak from the steakhouse, Mom will get some beans from the pantry, and you want Mom to leave Dad because he's a horrible person who abuses you both, drinks himself into a stupor whenever he goes out on a "food run," and rants about how much better his life was before you were born. Mom's not going to leave Dad before dinner, so your choices are beans or to try your luck with Dad. It's probably better to get the sure meal than to chance that this is the night of all nights Mom has had it with his bullshit and walks out on his ass as you have always seen it in your head, but neither option is fantastic.

You want a better society? A socialist/communist one perhaps? It's not gonna happen if nobody is willing to engage in democracy due to prolonged apathy.

And who knows...perhaps voting will lead to at least some positive change. System will still collapse sooner or later without substantial change...the least one can do this election is to take the time to check every D box and go on with whatever revolution plans they're working on.

Found this an interesting comment[1] that is not often brought up. The least of our civic duties is voting. And I would argue the most ineffective on a personal level. Vote yes! But continue to rabble-rouse and advocate for change after the election. That whole 'Act locally' mantra is the most important thing we can do.

It is still scary how well filter bubbles work at segmenting the population and reinforcing group think [2]
