    It sounds like from the article there's not a clear genetic or chemical cause for the behavior of these Ragdolls. I wonder if there is perhaps epigenetics at work? I don't know much about it, but...

I don't know much about it, but maybe it could change how much the genes are expressed and thus change disposition, without being detectable in a traditional gene sequence.
