      At a lot of film festivals its pretty common to have long standing ovations. Elvis got a standing ovation for 12 minutes. There’s an element of “we love cinema” going on there, as well as a level...

      At a lot of film festivals its pretty common to have long standing ovations. Elvis got a standing ovation for 12 minutes. There’s an element of “we love cinema” going on there, as well as a level of politeness. Also some of the people there are drunk. So there’s that.

        Not to diminish this ovation, but I'm sure 2 years of COVID restrictions finally ending has everyone extra-enthused as well. At least, I know I am certainly feeling that way for the upcoming TIFF.

          This is more of a return to normal I’d say. I think last years Cannes was the “we’ve been cooped up for too long” with Annette’s standing ovation.
