TBH, I'm far more "fatigued" with the constant claims about Marvel fan fatigue than I am of actually watching the new Marvel properties. It seems like every few months another of these exact same kind of articles comes out... and yet despite that Marvel is still chugging along like Juggernaut (bitch), and still making hundreds of millions every movie.

We get it, some people are getting tired of Marvel movies, but clearly the majority of moviegoers (myself included) still feels otherwise, or they wouldn't keep making more of them, and making such huge profits off them. And even when people do experience fatigue, it's not like that's some permanent condition. If they're anything like me, they probably just skip a few shows/movies when they eventually feel fatigued, until another finally piques their curiosity.

I've yet to see a Marvel project I didn't enjoy (with the exception of the last two Thor movies.) I'm not suffering fatigue, I just don't go to theaters anymore.

...Taika Waititi's Thor movies. Which are the two films that MCU fans fairly consistently seem to dislike.

I've read and enjoyed plenty of Marvel comics over the years and no matter how much I want to like the films, they just disappoint me time after time. I am definitely fatigued!

Sadly, this is true. I don't know why that's so, because I feel it's very cringeworthy, second only to Blood and Thunder, which really should have just been titled 2Ragna 2Rok. There are very few movies I've seen all the way through where I'm wondering when it'll be the movie everyone says it is, and then the credits hit.

Believe me, I know how in the minority I am in that.

Fair enough. I don't have a big sample size and I haven't looked up any reviews - but the few people whose opinions I know on the topic don't seem to like Ragnarok much compared to things like the various Avengers films. Also the comment I replied to didn't like it either. Blood and Thunder definitely seems much more disliked.

This is honestly the first time I've ever heard that Thor Ragnarok is considered to be a lesser movie to MCU fans in general.

I get that there are detractors—there always are—but Ragnarok has been one of the mostly widely celebrated movies in the entire MCU because the Thor series preceding it were not all that well regarded. Thor 2 is still often ranked as the single worst MCU movie.

If anything, there has been a bit of a retroactive backlash from people that didn't like Love and Thunder much but that's a whole other thing, and one that I think is a bit of a reach.

This is Taika's thing and audiences responded to it well for the vastly most part. Thor Ragnarok got a 93% on RT. That leaves 7% of people who don't like it. Sidenote: Jojo Rabbit has an 80% on RT but a 94% user score, while Ragnarok rocks an 87% user RT score.

Like the movie or not, it's still odd to suggest that MCU fans hold Ragnarok as one of the worst MCU movies. It's ranked pretty highly in most lists I find, like this one.

Of course there's room for personal preferences. I actually hate the #1 ranked movie in that list and it's one of the few MCU movies I just don't rewatch because it annoys the hell out of me. But most MCU fans love it. That's the magic of a series with ~30 entries. You can pick and choose what you like from the buffet.

And overall, that's the beauty of the MCU... unless you hate the entire concept, there's going to be something for everyone. Just like I loved Ms Marvel and She-Hulk and some people definitely didn't.

I'm very much an Advocate, or "dedicated fan". Here's what I think: if you rank the MCU objectively, the amount of mediocre movies is pretty high. Some are great, a few are excellent, none is offensively bad. When those films are pointing towards a common resolution, you tend to discount the bad because it feels like a step towards something great. It's an act, not the full story. When you start thinking of those movies as independent, you'll compare it to all the other standalone movies that are released every year. And, without the framing of a major saga, they're simply not that good.

I still watch them regardless and will continue to do so. It's great fun.

I would like to rebut with: the Eternals. The Eternals really didn't feel like it was moving toward anything, it felt very standalone, and I still very much liked it for what it was. Conversely, Thor: What A Blunder felt like it was a lynchpin connecting Thor, the Avengers, the GotG... and I just couldn't.

I've seen three movies now where he's tried to be funny, and he's not been funny in any of them. He's much better at being a "fish out of water" kind of funny (which works really well for an Asgardian on Midgard.) I actually liked the first two Thor movies, but then until Ragnarok there wasn't a single Marvel project I can say I disliked. But then, I did grow up with the comics, so being a devoted fan probably doesn't hurt.

Absolutely. I loved the comic event, and the sense of paranoia is going to be very interesting on the screen.

Marvel Snap has me quite hooked right now so even if the movies are “ok” they’ve managed to branch out with their IP and keep it interesting.
