I got one wrong here. I predicted Cameron getting in over Field. Field, and TAR, is a surprising nominee here. DGA are kind of basic bitches in their taste (because of a lot of tv and commercial directors being in the branch) and they don’t go artsy when the Oscar’s usually do (The Favourite missed in favor of Green Book as an example). I’m glad Field got in though.
DGA usually goes 4/5 with the Oscar’s, and the one most likely to miss here is Kosinski for Top Gun. That’s a classic populist DGA pick that the stuffy directors branch at the Oscar’s don’t like. They’ll probably nominate Ostlund for Triangle of Sadness is my guess.
