I think that I've aged out of the demographic that movie makers care about - I don't really have any inclination to go to a movie theatre, for example, because I have a great media centre at home, better couches to watch from, better popcorn and other snacks, and sound that I can actually balance and the option to turn on subtitles when the sound designer for a film has inevitably caused all spoken word to be muddy incoherence - but I think this movie is one I'd consider seeing, mostly because I like Elizabeth Banks, and I want her to keep making movies. I liked Pitch Perfect 2 and I even liked Charlie's Angels. I mean, I don't think Charlie's Angels was glorious high art by any means, but I thought that it did a good enough job of being an action movie with women as heroes.

The article itself touched on the cognitive labor of being a woman / mother, versus being a man / father, which is definitely a topic of interest. I see a lot more people pushing back against the idea that women have a harder time (despite evidence to the contrary), so it's interesting to see an article that glibly observes it as truth; "Yet another hurdle that probably wouldn’t stop a man from directing a movie," for example.

    Great article, thanks for sharing.
