I think they’ve lost customer trust for quite a while. I signed up back before they switched to the $9.99 pricing structure and charged a sustainable price. I believe it was $35 per month. That made it much more likely that people wouldn’t use the service more than it cost MoviePass. The $9.99 model was doomed from the start but I figured I would ride the train of cheap movies as long as I could. Honestly, it lasted longer than I thought it would.
I’ve been using Sinemia as an alternative since MoviePass imploded and it works essentially the same way. The plan I’m on is $15 per month for three movies.
So if I see one movie per month then I’ve recouped my cost. I suspect they’ll have the same problems that MoviePass had though.

Nobody will go for MoviePass in bulk any more. But people might go for CinemaTicket or some other clone, like Ares after Napster.
