Ten years without Jason, can we now admit ‘Friday the 13th’ 2009 was damn good?

I've been a big fan of the F13 reboot since I saw it in theaters. In a franchise that's more misses than hits, I think it stands out as one of the better entires.

This topic made me realize that I have never actually seen a Friday the 13th movie despite generally being a fan of supernatural horror/slasher films, having seen most of the movies from the other major franchises (Hellraiser, Halloween, Nightmare of Elm Street, Child's Play, etc). O_o

Is the 2009 movie a decent place to start or should I watch the original first and work my way through?
Are there any in the series I should absolutely avoid?

It honestly depends on your tolerance for horror movies. Only one of them is full on bad, where I would say don’t watch it (Part VII: Jason Takes Manhattan). The rest are fine for what they are,...

Part VII is about a psychic girl fighting Jason with her mind powers though.

As for a starting point, I’d say the first one is a good place to start. Part IV has Corey Feldman and is pretty darn good.

My tolerance for watching totally garbage movies is pretty high. Not quite Best of the Worst levels (the RLM boys are straight up masochists), but I do enjoy watching terrible horror movies every now and then.

E.g. Your description of Part VII is actually intriguing me and the fact that it's actually unironically called "Jason Takes Manhattan", a title so bad/cliche it hurts, makes me want to watch it even more. :P

But I will prob just start with the first and work my way through. Thanks for the advice.

          p.s. <3 The Coreys too.

Based on your response, you should watch them all. Especially Jason X. Because it is set in the future and Jason kills people on a space ship.

LOL, you just 100% sold me on Jason X too. And yeah, I put all them in my watchlist so next time I get the time/inclination for a horror marathon session I will give them all a watch. :)
