Logan was probably the last one I can think of that actually took a risk and broke from the tried and true formula.
I would like to see a Batman in the film but he would not be the protagonist. We would see all of their fights and struggles from the joker POV. But that is highly unlikely.

Maybe so but only because he is standing on the shoulders of Heath Ledger and the quality of performance he gave in TDK.
