Why would you sign a pledge to commit to a 50/50 gender representation when you're already there? Do the 5% of the directors matter that much when 52% were lead my women and the board is at 60%?...

This year, 45% of the films in CPH:DOX’s competition programs were directed by women and 52% of the projects selected for the fest’s financing forum were by women or mixed teams, according to Fischer. The fest’s board also boasts a 60% female representation.

Why would you sign a pledge to commit to a 50/50 gender representation when you're already there? Do the 5% of the directors matter that much when 52% were lead my women and the board is at 60%? If that pledge is so strict, is the board going to get replaced for a true 50/50 cut? Are the 2% of the projects going to get thrown out and be replaced by male-lead ones?

It really just sounds like cashing in on good publicity even though you're not really going to change anything.

Well, it has caused some festivals here in Turkey to commit to the same pledge, which might be reckoned a positive effect depending on your standpoint. Personally, I find this sort of 50/50 stuff...

Well, it has caused some festivals here in Turkey to commit to the same pledge, which might be reckoned a positive effect depending on your standpoint. Personally, I find this sort of 50/50 stuff rather futile and cringy b/c it does nothing about the actual problems but aims at symptoms and even obscures the actual problems.
