I don't understand why this would be concerning.

Though the inclusion of another female girl boss baddie gives me a little concern.

In any case, the Huns are not there to be a foil to Mulan in the original either. I don't think that any of them are, really. It's largely a movie about finding ones place in the world. That's why there is so much imagry with reflections in the film.

Disney now has a track record of some odd attempts at being "woke" (check out that video linked) with some of the additions they have made to "fix" up their classic stories. The linked video is a good overall coverage of Disney, but there's one specifically about Beauty and the Beast that goes more in depth about what happened in that movie's changes specifically.

It's weird, I don't think the women in their older movies were "weak" or anything.

Basically instead of addressing any real criticism of their older movies in a meaningful way, they just throw in the smallest bit of strong women to the story and call it a day.

But none of this is inherently bad, just different.
