After LOTR came out, I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to get Americans to watch Bad Taste. Because it's from Peter Jackson. Director of Lord of the Rings.

The few that watched it, swore to never listen to another movie recommendation from me again.

One of my friends loves getting people to watch Dead Alive / Braindead for pretty much the same reason. It's a completely ridiculous movie. IMDB's trivia section for it includes:

      • The movie is said to be the bloodiest of all time (measured in amount of film blood used during the production)
      • 300 liters of fake blood was used in the final scene of the film.
      • During the lawnmower scene, movie blood was pumped at five gallons per second.

It's just insane that the guy that directed it somehow went on to make LOTR less than 10 years later.
